One of the hottest perks of NWU membership is the Press Pass for journalists. It costs $40 and takes up to four weeks to process the verification of a member's credentials as a working journalist. Laminated and adorned with your photograph, the Pass helps gain you access to important events. "I've found the Press Pass very useful, especially when working out-of-town," says journalist Susan Pollack, author of Gloucester Fishermen's Wives Cookbook: Stories and Recipes. "Last fall, I used it to identify myself at the Biblioteca Nazionale in Florence, Italy as well as at research libraries in New York." For criteria and instructions, go to www.nwu.org.
