Winerip will speak about his wide-ranging career at the Times, culminating
in his Sunday column, ÒGeneration B.Ó
Winerip has documented a myriad of social issues. His article, for the New York Times magazine, ÒBedlam on the
Streets,Ó profiled a mentally ill man who pushed a woman to her death before an
onrushing subway train in New York. Winerip used this
case to expose deficiencies in the mental health system, leading the State of
New York to appropriate an extra $215 million to improve mental health care.
